Idea projektu

Located in a dense urban fabric of Prishtina, Boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit” currently functions mainly as a vehicular corridor that divides rather than connects surrounding neighborhoods. Despite its central position, it lacks strong public identity, social interaction spaces, and continuous green infrastructure.

The main idea of the project is to transform the boulevard into a 30 km/h human-centered urban island, shifting the priority from cars to people. By reducing traffic speed and reorganizing the central median into a multifunctional green spine, the boulevard becomes a safe, inclusive, and interactive public space.

The intervention introduces landscape elements, community gathering areas, pedestrian and cycling paths, and small cultural nodes that activate the space throughout the day. Instead of being only a transit route, the boulevard evolves into a social and ecological connector that strengthens community life and enhances the urban identity of the area.
