Resort Český Les represents the transformation of a former military complex into a tourist destination for the entire area. It serves as an example of how new life can be breathed into a brownfield site that once disrupted the harmony of the surrounding landscape. The resort includes two main buildings: Aparthotel Železná and Boutique Apartments Železná. Aparthotel Železná was originally built in 1985 as accommodation for border guards. Since the late 1990s, the building had remained unused. Today, in addition to providing lodging, it offers facilities for conferences, sports activities, and relaxation in a wellness center. It also houses Restaurant Hvozd and Bar Kotelna. The architecture of the aparthotel incorporates geometric elements inspired by the structure of pine needles, the shape of pine cones, and drops of dew. The motifs of stone and iron ore, visible in the paving and metal features, reflect the history of the surrounding landscape as well as the name of the nearby village. The primary material is oak wood, valued for its natural color and rich grain. The apartment interiors combine oak with the muted tones of a misty forest. A striking design feature is the wallpaper with photographic images of the surrounding nature, evoking a framed view of the landscape behind the bold headboard.
